New Reopening with Respect campaign will welcome consumers back to pubs, bars and restaurants while urging them to #BeSound

Friday, 26 June 2020

A new campaign, Reopening with Respect, was launched by Drinks Ireland today to encourage consumers to act respectfully and #BeSound when returning to their favourite pubs, bars and restaurants in the coming weeks.

Drinks Ireland represents Irish drinks producers and distributors, including many of the nation’s best-loved brands, and wants to build consumer confidence and facilitate efforts to allow for a safe return to the hospitality sector.

The campaign aims to support the work being done by the Government and relevant agencies, including Fáilte Ireland, who yesterday launched a new Staycation campaign, as well as by venues, who are introducing new guidelines and safety measures across the hospitality sector.

The Reopening with Respect campaign will encourage consumers to Respect the Guidelines, set out by individual venues upon re-opening. They’ll be asked to Respect the Staff, by being patient and cooperative and to Respect Each Other, to ensure the experience is enjoyable for everyone.

Overall, customers will be reminded at all times to #BeSound, to ensure everyone is kept safe, and importantly has a great time.

Reopening with Respect will be digitally led at first, with a campaign toolkit available to drinks brands and the on-trade sector.

Both the Vintners Federation of Ireland (VFI) and the Licensed Vintners Association (LVA) have endorsed the campaign.

Patricia Callan, Director of Drinks Ireland said:

“Ireland’s hospitality sector has been closed for three months now, and these venues have been sorely missed by people across the country.

“Our new Reopening with Respect campaign will highlight how we all have our part to play to ensure our favourite venues remain safe and enjoyable for all. Through simple, friendly, identifiable and welcoming language and visuals we are asking the consumer to respect the guidelines, respect the staff and respect each other, and most importantly to #BeSound.

“While the ‘new normal’ may take a little getting used to, we’re confident that by acting respectfully, our pubs, bars and restaurants will be full of life again soon.”

Padraig Cribben, Chief Executive of the VFI said:

“While pubs are putting measures in place to ensure customers are safe, we know that consumer confidence will be hugely important when facilitating a return to these venues in the coming weeks. We welcome the new Reopening with Respect campaign from Drinks Ireland, which can be used and adapted by companies in the hospitality sector to get the message out there. We believe it’s an important campaign on top of work being done by the hospitality sector and at an individual pub level.”

Donall O'Keeffe, CEO of the LVA said:

“We’re looking forward to welcoming customers back to their favourite pubs, which we know have been missed over the past three months. By following the clear guidance of Respect the GuidelinesRespect the Staff and Respect Each Other, we can certainly make the re-opening of these venues smoother for everyone, while ensuring customers still get to enjoy the renowned Irish pub experience.”
