Ireland's alcohol industry abides by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Code on Sponsorship in conjunction with the sponsorship section in the Alcohol Marketing, Communications and Sponsorship Code of Practice.

The total implementation of a major sponsorship may encompass the use of a wide range of marketing elements/activities. The codes are therefore intended to complement, where relevant, the existing framework of legislation, regulations and co-regulatory and voluntary codes covering the sale and general marketing of alcohol.
